Washington, Philadelphia, New York & Boston Multicentre holiday by Train

Combine the four key cities of the Northeast USA in comfort, travelling by Amtrak train between each of Washington DC, Philadelphia, New York and Boston. A USA multicentre trip by train is a superb way to see this region.

SUGGESTED ITINERARY

Day 1 - UK to Washington DC

Fly from London to Washington DC, arriving later the same day - departures from other UK airports are also available, of course. On arrival make your way to your chosen hotel, for a three night stay - our city stopovers are completely flexible, so if you’d like a day or two more or less just let us know!

Days 2-3 - Washington DC

Spend a few days discovering vibrant Washington DC. The city is packed with museums and monuments, so plan your time to make the most of it. There are 19 Smithsonian museums in DC, including the latest opening the National Museum of African American History & Culture - our favourite is the National Air & Space museum.

Day 4 - Washington DC to Philadelphia

Make your way to Washington’s Union Station for the Amtrak train service to Philadelphia’s 30th Street Station. On arrival make your way to your chosen hotel, for a two night stay - we have a range of hotel options to choose from, and your length of stay in Philadelphia is flexible.

Day 5 - Philadelphia

Today you have a full day to continue your sightseeing in historic Philadelphia. We’d recommend a guided tour of Independence Hall, the ‘birthplace of American Government’ to brush up on your US history.

Day 6 - Philadelphia to New York

Make your way back to 30th Street Station for the Amtrak train service to New York. On arrival at New York’s Penn Station make your way to your chosen hotel, for a three night stay - our holidays are very flexible so your durations can be tailored to suit your exact requirements!

Days 7-8 - New York

Spend a few days discovering vibrant New York. Manhattan itself is made up of numerous neighbourhoods each with its own feel & vibe - try East Village for a slice of quintessential New York; SoHo for designer shopping & cafe-hopping; and the Upper East Side for museums & ladies who lunch.

Day 9 - New York to Boston

Make your way back to New York Penn Station for the Amtrak train service to Boston. On arrival make your way to your chosen hotel, for a three night stay - durations in all locations are flexible, so you can stay for as long as you wish!

Days 10-11 - Boston

Explore historic Boston over the next few days. Take in neighbourhoods such as well-groomed Back Bay, compact Chinatown and the up-and-coming Seaport District.

Day 12 - Return

Make your way to Boston airport for your return flight to the UK, arriving the next day.
