SUGGESTED ITINERARY

Day 1 - UK to New York

Fly from London to New York, arriving later that day - departures from other UK airports are also available, of course. On arrival make your way to your chosen hotel, for a three night stay - if you’d like a different duration here just let us know, we’re very flexible!

Days 2-3 - New York

Your next few days are free to explore New York. This is one of the world’s most recognisable cities, and even if it’s your first visit there’s a certain familiarity to the place. We love the hop-on hop-off sightseeing bus routes in New York - they’re a great way to take in all the key locations in a fairly short time, without walking for miles and miles!

Day 4 - New York to Boston

Make your way to New York’s Penn Station for the Amtrak train service to Boston. On arrival at Boston's South Station make your way to your chosen hotel, for a three night stay - our city stopovers are completely flexible, so if you’d like a day or two more or less just let us know!

Days 5-6 - Boston

Spend the next few days getting to know fascinating Boston. Perhaps spend one day discovering the city’s revolutionary history by following the Freedom Trail, and one day taking in its open spaces with a bicycle rental along the Charles River.

Day 7 - Boston to Cape Cod

Collect your rental car from the car hire depot at Boston Downtown, and head out of town towards to coast. We’d suggest driving via Newport on the Rhode Island Coast to Hyannis on Cape Cod (approx 150 miles / 3 hours 15 minutes, plus stopping time). On arrival in to Hyannis check in to your hotel for a three night stay.

Days 8-9 - Cape Cod

Spend the next few days exploring the Cape Cod area. Take a ferry to Nantucket or Martha’s Vineyard, drive the scenic Mid Cape Highway (US 6) or visit the beaches and dunes of the Cape Cod National Seashore.

Day 10 - Cape Cod to Brattleboro

From Hyannis at Cape Cod we’d suggest driving via the Mohawk Trail from Orange to North Adams on the way to Brattleboro (approx 245 miles / 5 hours, plus stopping time) - there are shorter routes too, but this is the scenic option! On arrival in to bohemian Brattleboro check in to your hotel for a two night stay.

Day 11 - Brattleboro

This area of Vermont is home to some of the prettiest drives in the region, so spend the day exploring the area, or getting to know charming Brattleboro a little better.

Day 12 - Brattleboro to Lake Winnipesauke

Continue through Vermont, we’d suggest travelling via the Covered Bridges of Bennington and through the Green Mountains National Forest (approx 190 miles / 4 hours, plus stops) - at Bennington, a 30 minute detour will take you across three traditional covered bridges spanning the Wallomsac River. On arrival in to Lake Winnipesauke check in to your hotel for two nights.

Day 13 - Lake Winnipesauke

Spend a day in, on and around Lake Winnipesauke, New Hampshire’s largest lake.

Day 14 - Return

Drive back to Boston airport (approx 135 miles / 2 hours 50 minute, plus stopping time) driving via Wolfeboro and Portsmouth. Drop off your rental car and check in for your return flight to the UK, arriving the next day.

New York, Boston, New England and Cape Cod by Train & Drive

Combine New York and Boston with a few nights in each travelling by train between the two, then collect your car and head to Vermont, New Hampshire and Massachusetts at Cape Cod for a fascinating itinerary.
