ITINERARY

Day 1 - Depart

Fly from Heathrow to Kigale (via Nairobi), arriving next day.

Day 2 -  Kigali to Parc National De Volcans

On arrival at Kigali Airport met by our representative and drive to Musanze in the northwest part of Rwanda (110km - approximately 2 hours 30 minutes) and then on to your lodge. Overnight: Gorilla Mountain View Lodge (lunch and dinner included).

Day 3 - Parc National De Volcans Gorilla Trekking

A very early morning transfer to the Park Office for gorilla trekking formalities before starting your trek. Treks vary in duration depending on which gorilla group you are assigned to. After locating your assigned gorilla group, you will spend approximately one hour in their company before heading back down the volcano slopes. Lunch at the lodge with the afternoon to relax. Overnight: Gorilla Mountain View Lodge (breakfast, lunch and dinner included).

Day 4 - Kigali

Another opportunity for gorilla trekking or a Golden Monkey trek (optional extras), or morning at leisure at your lodge. After lunch drive back to Kigali.

Overnight: Kigali Serena Hotel (breakfast and lunch included).

Day 5 - Nairobi

Transfer back to Kigale airport for your flight to Nairobi. You’ll be met on arrival and transferred to your hotel for an overnight stay. Overnight: Southern Sun Mayfair Hotel (breakfast included).

Day 6 - Amboseli

This morning transfer to the Safari Lounge, where you can store any additional luggage before departing for Amboseli (250 km - approximately 4 hours). After lunch enjoy an afternoon game drive. Overnight: Amboseli Sopa Lodge (lunch and dinner included).

Day 7 - Amboseli

Amboseli is home to an abundance of mammals and over 400 species of birds. Plains game, lions, cheetahs and vast herds of elephants wander freely. The area is dominated by the stunning spectacle of Mount Kilimanjaro. An early morning game drive followed by breakfast at the lodge. Later, take an afternoon game drive. Overnight: Amboseli Sopa Lodge (breakfast, lunch and dinner included).

Day 8 - Lake Naivasha

After breakfast drive to Lake Naivasha in time for lunch (350 km - approximately 5 hours). The rest of the day is at leisure. At Lake Naivasha there is plenty for all the family to do. Not only can you go horse riding or cycling, but the main attractions are the 450 species of birds which have been recorded in and around this freshwater lake. Overnight: Lake Naivasha Sopa Lodge (breakfast, lunch and dinner included).

Day 9 - Masai Mara

Depart early for your journey to the Masai Mara Game Reserve (270 km - approximately 5 hours 30 minutes). the world-famous Masai Mara, one of the world's most enthralling wildlife theatres. The reserve plays host to countless species, including the 'big five' (lion, leopard, elephant, rhino and buffalo) and the incredible spectacle of the annual wildebeest migration.Afternoon game drive. Overnight: Mara Sopa Lodge (breakfast, lunch and dinner included).

Day 10 - Masai Mara

Enjoy an early morning game drive followed by breakfast at the lodge, or take an early morning balloon flight over the Mara followed by a 'bubbly' bush breakfast (optional extra). Later take an afternoon game drive. Overnight: Mara Sopa Lodge (breakfast, lunch and dinner included).

Day 11 - Depart

Return to Nairobi (335 km - approximately 5 hours 30 minutes), or optional extra fly from the Masai Mara to Nairobi or lunch in the Masai Mara and afternoon flight. Proceed with your onward travel arrangement (breakfast included).

Notes

The safari element of this itinerary is a group departure which operates with a minimum of 2 and a maximum of 6 passengers, all guaranteed a window seat.

On occasion the itinerary may operate in a different order, or different lodges used according to availability and road conditions.

Travel times vary on road conditions and game sightings.

Pack a mixture of warm and light clothing in soft bags, plus sunglasses, camera and insect repellent.
