ITINERARY
Day 1 - Depart
Fly from Heathrow to Nairobi, arriving the next day. Regional departures from around the UK are also available.
Day 2 - Aberdares
You’ll be met on arrival at Nairobi airport, and transferred to the nearby Safari Lounge, where you can freshen up and store any beach luggage that you don’t want to take on safari. Depart for the Aberdares (180 km), arriving in time for lunch at the Aberdare Country Club, which is nestled on the slopes of Mwega Hill. The wildlife sanctuary is brimming with giraffes, zebras, Grant's and Thomson's gazelles, plus it is home to the reclusive leopard. Spend the afternoon relaxing, or on a nature walk with the resident naturalist (weather permitting).A round of golf with an audience of warthogs is not out of the question. From the Club's gardens and pool the setting sun with the Aberdare Mountains as a backdrop, is stunning. Overnight: Aberdare Country Club (lunch and dinner included).
Day 3 - Samburu
Today you’ll drive north across the equator to the Samburu National Reserve (190 km). On arrival you’ll check in to the Ashnil Samburu Cubmp, your home for the next two nights. Set south of Ewaso Nyiro River in Buffalo Springs Game Reserve, a stay here gives you unrivalled access to game viewing. The camp is home to just 30 luxury tents, all circular, and carefully spread throughout the lush ground. A lovely pool is a welcome place to cool off. After lunch a game drive will introduce you to this wildlife-rich area. Return to the camp for dinner. Overnight: Ashnil Samburu Camp (breakfast, lunch and dinner included).
Day 4 - Samburu
Today you’ll experience morning and late afternoon game drives in this open savannah which is traversed by the Ewaso Nyiro River. The three national reserves that make up he Samburu area - Buffalo Springs, Shaba and Samburu itself - encompass a variety of landscapes, which providers variety of wildlife. Shaba’s rocky kopjes (isolated hills) and natural springs contrast with the open savannahs and scrub desert of Buffaoo Springs and Samburu. Elephant, giraffe, Grevy;s zebra and Somali ostriches are common here. Overnight: Ashnil Samburu Camp (breakfast, lunch and dinner included).
Day 5- Aberdares
Head back across the Equator and on to the Aberdares area. Arriving at your lodge in time for lunch (240 km). Serena Mountain Lodge offers a matchless game viewing opportunity, whilst combining a glorious panorama of mountain vistas with the primordial splendours of an ancient rainforest. Considered the most spectacular forest waterhole in the Aberdares, the lodge's waterhole attracts a near constant stream of wildlife. Spend the afternoon viewing game from the lodge, or join a nature walk led by a local guide (payable locally and weather permitting). Overnight: Serena Mountain Lodge (breakfast, lunch and dinner included).
Day 6 - Lake Nakuru / Lake Naivasha
After breakfast, descend into the Great Rift Valley and continue to Lake Nakuru Lodge for lunch (240 km). In the afternoon you’ll go on a game drive around the small but beautifully formed national park. Rhino sightings are common, and flamingoes congregating on the lake shore give the area a pink tinge. Later, drive to Lake Naivasha (80 km - approximately 1 hour) and check in to your lodge, which is set in beautiful grounds with green acacias surrounding the lake, host to a variety of game including giraffes, buffaloes and the elusive black faced colobus monkey. In and around the lake many hippos can be seen wallowing in the water or grazing within the lodge grounds. Overnight: Lake Naivasha Sopa Lodge (breakfast, lunch and dinner included).
Day 7 - Masai Mara
Drive to the Masai Mara National Reserve (320 km), arriving in time for lunch at your camp. Ashnil Mara Camp is perfectly positioned at the confluence of the Mara and Olkeju Rivers in the Masai Mara National Reserve, with tents sitting alongside the riverbank. This is an unrivalled position for wildlife spotting, and is close to the action during the annual wildebeest migration. After lunch a game drive will introduce you to this incredible game reserve. Overnight: Ashnil Mara Camp (lunch and dinner included).
Day 8 - Masai Mara
Enjoy an early morning game drive followed by breakfast at the lodge - alternatively, there’s an opportunity for a hot air balloon ride over the Masai Mara (optional extra) in the early morning, followed by breakfast (complete with sparkling wine) in the bush - it’s an amazing experience, and one we’d highly recommend. In the afternoon a second game drive will show you more of the Masai Mara’s wildlife. Overnight: Ashnil Mara Camp (lunch and dinner included).
Day 9 - Depart
After breakfast, return to Nairobi by road (300 km), or for a supplement there's the option to fly by light aircraft from the Masai Mara to Nairobi (do bear in mind that this limits your luggage allowance for the whole safari). When you arrive in to Nairobi transfer to the main airport for the short flight to Kilimanjaro. Transfer on arrival to the Arusha Serena Hotel, a journey of approximately 45 minutes. The hotel is a haven of calm and serenity away from the hustle and bustle of Arusha itself. Overnight: Arusha Serena Hotel (breakfast, lunch and dinner included).
Day 10 - Lake Manyara
After breakfast drive to Lake Manyara National Park, famous for its tree-climbing lions (150 km). Your lodge is a unique property in a spectacular setting on the edge of the Mto Wa Mbu escarpment, overlooking the Great Rift Valley and Lake Manyara. After lunch a game drive will introduce you to the local area’s wildlife. Overnight: Lake Manyara Serena Safari Lodge (breakfast, lunch and dinner included).
Day 11 - Serengeti
Drive to the world-famous Serengeti National Park with game viewing en route (235 km). The Serengeti is Tanzania’s largest and most famous national park, and has vast plains that are home to tens of thousands of wildebeest, zebra and other hoofed animals that are always on the hunt for new grass. This then brings in large carnivores such as lion and cheetah, making the Serengeti one of the best places in Africa for game viewing. Overnight: Serengeti Serena Safari Lodge (breakfast, lunch and dinner included).
Day 12 - Serengeti
Have breakfast at your lodge before heading out in to the Serengeti on a full-day game drive with a picnic lunch. There’s also an opportunity for a hot air balloon ride over the Serengeti (optional extra) in the early morning, followed by breakfast (complete with sparkling wine) in the bush - it’s an amazing experience, and one we’d highly recommend. Inspired by a traditional African village, the Serengeti Serena Safari Lodge offers rooms which are housed in individual thatched huts, furnished with authentic African furniture and handicrafts, with balconies overlooking the awesome expanse of the Serengeti. Day 13 - Ngorongoro
Drive to the iconic Ngorongoro Crater via Olduvai Gorge (200 km). Lunch at your lodge which is perched on the jagged rim of the Crater - the Ngorongoro Serena Safari Lodge is a triumph of ecological and architectural fusion, where the lodge's stone outlook, nestled amongst granite rock outcrops perfectly blends in with its surroundings. The afternoon is at leisure. Overnight: Ngorongoro Serena Safari Lodge (breakfast, lunch and dinner included).
Day 14 - Ngorongoro
Today you’ll down into the Crater for a full-day of game viewing with a picnic lunch. The Ngorongoro Crater is an extinct volcano that;s very rich in wildlife, with elephants, rhinos, wildebeest, zebras, buffaloes, gazelles and big cats all making their home here. If time permits you’ll visit a local Masai village. Overnight: Ngorongoro Serena Safari Lodge (breakfast, lunch and dinner included).
Day 15 - Depart
Drive back to Arusha (200 km) and have lunch at a local restaurant. Later, transfer to the airport for your onward travel arrangements (breakfast and lunch included).

The Kenya and Tanzania elements of this itinerary may consist of different passengers - both elements are group itineraries which operate with a minimum of 2 and a maximum of 6 passengers, all guaranteed a window seat.
