WELCOME |
Singapore
is a tiny country of contrast, where the traditional side
of the Far East meets the modern. The City State leads the
way in South East Asia's push for development, and makes a
truly fascinating introduction to the region. |
|
WHAT
TO DO |
Start
your Singapore holiday with a visit to the Colonial area around
the Singapore River. Take in Orchard Road for some serious shopping,
or head in to the Arab Street or Chinatown areas for bargain-hunting.
Singapore is a real mish-mash of people and cultures, with items
for sale and foods to eat from every corner of the world. Shopping
and eating are the order of the day! |
WHERE
TO STAY |
Hotels
are scattered all around the city, from the colonial area around
the river where the city was originally founded, to trendy Orchard
Road, Chinatown and Little India. Getting about Singapore is
very straightforward, particularly with the efficient underground
system, the MRT. |
HOLIDAY
IDEAS |
Singapore
can be visited as a city break, although most visitors use it
as a stopover for a longer holiday to the Far East. Singapore
combines well with most parts of Malaysia, plus Thailand, Bali,
Vietnam, Cambodia and Hong Kong. |
GETTING
THERE |
Scheduled
flights operate daily to Singapore from London Heathrow, with
regular flights also from Manchester plus regional departures
from various other UK cities including Birmingham, Newcastle
and Glasgow. |
