After breakfast, drive to one of the most popular parks in Kenya, Amboseli National Park, home to around 900 elephant. Located near Mt. Kilimanjaro, the world’s tallest freestanding mountain, weather permitting you will be able to witness the snow-capped peak. Amboseli National Park offers the chance to encounter magnificent herds of elephant, and if you are lucky you may spot the elusive and endangered black rhino. Following an exciting afternoon game drive, you will spend two nights at Ol Tukai Lodge (approx. 100 miles). (breakfast, lunch and dinner included).
Wednesday
Amboseli
Experience early morning and afternoon game drives in Amboseli National Park, where, with its low vegetation, it is renowned as one of the best wildlife viewing areas in Africa. Look out for lion, buffalo, zebra and a diverse range of birdlife. The park’s dry and dusty form is due to the volcanic ash that came from Mt. Kilimanjaro on its last eruption, yet the lush green areas are a result of a continuous water supply from the mountain’s melting snow. (breakfast, lunch and dinner included).
Thursday
Aberdares
Drive via Nairobi to Aberdare, with lunch en route in Nairobi. You will then check in to Outspan hotel, and leave the majority of your luggage here in order to transfer to Treetops, your spectacular viewing perch for the night. This unique property is famous as the place where Princess Elizabeth ascended to the British Throne in 1952. Game is attracted by the saltlick and waterhole and with four spectacular viewing decks and a rooftop platform, it is the ideal place to capture incredible close-up photographs (approx. 250 miles). Friday and Saturday
Samburu
Enjoy an early morning tea at Treetops then return to the Outspan hotel for breakfast and to collect your left luggage. Drive north to Samburu National Reserve where you will spend the next two nights at Samburu Lodge situated on the banks of the Ewaso Ngiro River. Experience the African desert at its best and as a lesser known park it is less crowded, with game drives on both days giving you the opportunity to hopefully spot leopard, lion and cheetah. This is the dry, north of Kenya and the reserve attracts wildlife not often seen elsewhere, so be on the look out for gerenuks – a unique gazelle with a long neck that stands on its hind legs to feed (approx. 110 miles). (breakfast, lunch and dinner included).
Sunday
Sweetwaters
Drive south to the Sweetwaters Sanctuary for lunch and an afternoon game drive. Visit the remarkable Chimpanzee and Rhino Sanctuaries. Dinner and overnight stay at Sweetwaters Tented Camp, experiencing the charming ambience of under-canvas living. (approx. 150 miles).
(breakfast, lunch and dinner included).
Monday
Lake Nakuru
Drive via Thomson's Falls to Lake Nakuru for lunch. Here, due to an abundance of algae in the lake, flamingo famously line the shores. Overnight at Lake Nakuru Lodge (approx. 110 miles).
