|
| WELCOME |
To
the North of the North Coast hotels, Kenya's coast becomes
less developed, and plantations dominate the landscape. At
Watamu, the coastline is dotted with headlands and stunning
beaches, and a marine national park has been established here.
This is a perfect place for a relaxed beach holiday. Further
north, Malindi is one of Kenya's oldest towns, and offers visitors an unhurried pace of life, with beautiful beaches and a good selection of restaurants, cafes and bars. |

| WHAT
TO DO |
Relaxation
is the order of the day in both Watamu and Malindi. The Watamu Marine Park, stretching
along 30 km of the coastline, is one of the main features of
the area, where coral gardens and tropical fish are abundant.
It's a great area for snorkelling or diving. Motorised water
sports are not permitted within the Marine Park. Malindi's history is easy to explore, if you can drag yourself away from the beautiful beach, of course! |
| WHERE
TO STAY |
Hotels
in Watamu and Malindi tend to offer good standards of comfort and service. Options include All Inclusive resorts
and Half Board hotels. Many of Malindi's hotels are full of character, reflecting the area's rich history. |
| HOLIDAY
IDEAS |
Spend
a week or two in Watamu or Malindi, enjoying the great beaches,
quality hotels and great water sports, or opt for a safari plus
beach holiday, following the excitement of a safari in Kenya
with the relaxation of the Indian Ocean beaches. If you just
want a taster of safari, try one of our excursion safaris for
2 or 3 nights away from the coast. |
| GETTING
THERE |
Flights
to Mombasa operate from Gatwick on a weekly basis, giving holidays
for a week or two. There are flights from Manchester to Mombasa
at certain times of year - ask for more details! Safari plus
beach holidays are normally from Heathrow to Nairobi, with the
onward flight top Mombasa after the safari taking about an hour.
Watamu
is about 170 km from Mombasa Airport with a transfer time of
approximately 2 hours. Malindi is around an extra 20 minutes north. |
