WELCOME |
Sharm
El Sheikh lies at the southern tip of the Sinai peninsula,
where the desert merges with the beautifully clear waters
of the Red Sea. Rapidly becoming the most popular resort on
the Red Sea, Sharm offers a great range of activities, and
is world-renowned for diving. The combination of water sports,
quality accommodation and good facilities in a laid-back atmosphere
combine to make Sharm one of the most popular destinations
on the coast. |

|
WHAT
TO DO |
Sharm
has excellent dive sites suitable for everyone from complete
beginners to experts, including world-renowned sites. Ras Mohammed,
to the south of the resort, is one of the best places in the
world for wreck diving. At the mouth of the Gulf of Aqaba, the
Straits of Tiran are home to rays, dolphins and turtles.
For the less active, there's a good selection
of shops, restaurants, cafes and bars in Naama Bay, plus great
local excursions also available. |
|
WHERE
TO STAY |
Sharm
is made up of a series of small resorts. Naama Bay
is the main resort, with hotels, restaurants, shops and bars,
plus dive centres overlooking the sandy, gently shelving beach.
To the north, the areas of Ras Nasrani
and Nabq Bay are more peaceful and slowly developing,
while to the south, Ras Um Sid and Old
Sharm are only a short ride from Naama Bay. As hotels
can be up to 20 minutes drive from Naama Bay, choose your location
carefully! |
|
HOLIDAY
IDEAS |
Spend
a week or two relaxing in Sharm el Sheikh, taking a diving course,
snorkelling or sampling local cuisine and dancing the night
away. Alternatively, start with a few nights in Cairo before
moving on to Sharm for the rest of your holiday. Combining Sharm
with the Nile Valley is a little trickier, due to poor internal
flight connections. |
| GETTING
THERE |
Flights
to Sharm el Sheikh Airport operate direct from the UK throughout
the year. Flights depart from Gatwick and Manchester. Direct
scheduled flights also operate from Heathrow. At certain times
of the year, additional flights from Gatwick, Manchester and
other UK airports including Glasgow, Newcastle and Birmingham
also operate - ask for more details. From Sharm Airport, hotels
in Naama Bay can be reached in about 20 minutes, with those
in Nabq being closer. Dahab is about an hour from Sharm. |
