| WELCOME |
Luxor
is home to the real treasures of Egypt - an ancient town that's
had a place in Egypt's long history, Luxor now has more relics
from Egypt's grand days than anywhere else in the Country
- comparisons to an 'open air museum' are truly justified. |
| |
| WHAT
TO DO |
This
really is one of the most fascinating destinations imaginable,
and any visitor must take in some of the amazing, world renowned
sites. From the Temples of Karnak and Luxor in the town itself
to the treasures of the West Bank, including the Colossi of
Memnon, the magnificent Temple of Hapshetsut and the amazing
Valley of the Kings, sightseeing is the main activity for holidaymakers
in Luxor. |
|
WHERE
TO STAY |
Luxor
has an excellent range of hotels, dotted around the town centre
and close to the banks of the Nile to the north and south of
the centre. Standards tend to be high, with a good selection
of international chains including Hilton, Sheraton and Le Meridien
all located in Luxor. |
|
HOLIDAY
IDEAS |
Luxor
can be visited for a week or two, staying in one of the town's
excellent hotels, or it can be combined with a week on the beach
at either Hurghada or El Gouna, 4 hours away on the shores of
the Red Sea. Alternatively, start with a few nights in Cairo
and then move on to Luxor, or follow a Nile cruise with some
time in the Town. |
| GETTING
THERE |
Hotels
in Luxor are served by flights to Luxor Airport, which operate
direct from the UK throughout the year. Flights depart Gatwick,
generally on a Monday. At certain times of the year, additional
flights from Gatwick plus Manchester also operate - ask for
more details. |
