WHAT TO DO

Mauritius is a perfect holiday destination. With glorious beaches and great hotels, it's a perfect place to do nothing. The resort areas of Flic En Flac and Grande Baie offer a range of markets, bars and restaurants, while the west coast offers dolphin spotting opportunities and the east coast at Lie Aux Cerfs is great for water sports. Golf courses are plentiful, while the interior is lush and scenic - take a day trip in to the hills. It's also a great family destination, with many hotels having excellent kids clubs.

WHERE TO STAY

Mauritius has an excellent range of hotels, with many being world-class. Grand Baie and Flic En Flac are good options if you like to eat out, while the more remote south coast is a perfect hideaway. Value options are also available.

HOLIDAY IDEAS

Spend a week or so chilling out on the beach, taking in the scenery or partaking in some water sports. GETTING THERE

British Airways and Air Mauritius operate from London Heathrow to Mauritius several times per week. It's also possible to visit the Island as part of an East African holiday, with connections from Nairobi possible.
