TRAIN DETAILS
The train has 14 sleeping cars, two restaurant cars, two bar cars
and an observation deck. Prices include all meals and sightseeing
detailed in your
selected itinerary. The service, as you would expect, is superb
with a steward on hand 24 hours a day to make sure you enjoy your
journey.
Dining is a real delight with the finest Eurasian food served,
an excellent wine list complements your meals. Table d'hote meals
are included with an à la carte menu available at an extra
cost, all drinks are also extra. Smart casual clothing can be
worn during the daytime and in the evenings gentlemen are requested
to wear a jacket and tie to dinner.
Cabins are air-conditioned and beautifully designed in colonial
style with rich wood panels. There are three types of cabin, the
comfortable Pullman Cabin offers upper and lower berths, with

ITINERARY -
BANGKOK TO PENANG
DAY 1 - LONDON to BANGKOK
Fly British Airways from Heathrow to Bangkok, arriving the following day for three nights in a Superior river wing room at The Mandarin Oriental.
DAY 5 - BANGKOK to EASTERN & ORIENTAL EXPRESS
Transfer to Hualampong station to board the elegant Eastern & Oriental Express train early this evening. Sip a drink in the Observation car as the train leaves the city and heads out into open country. Later, settle into your cabin before enjoying dinner on board while the train travels past water buffalo and through rice fields and small villages. Return to your cabin at your convenience, which will have been transformed into a bedroom by stewards
DAY 6 - EASTERN & ORIENTAL EXPRESS
Awake early to experience the train make its way from Wong Po along a wooden trestle viaduct beside a towering cliff. Arrive at the River Kwai Bridge station and take a cruise along the river while learning about the history of this famous railway and bridge. Drive past the North Temple and Chinese Cemetery en route to the Thailand-Burma Railway Centre, where a historian will be on hand to answer any questions. A visit to the Don Rak War Cemetery is optional (time permitting). Take a coach the short distance to Kanchanaburi before returning to the train. Enjoy a relaxing afternoon, savour dinner and perhaps some music by the resident pianist in the bar before retiring for the night.
DAY 7 - EASTERN & ORIENTAL EXPRESS TO PENANG
On arrival in Penang transfer to a Deluxe gardenwing room Shangri-La’s Rasa Sayang for five nights of indulgence at this fine hotel.
DAY 12 - PENANG TO LONDON
Fly Malaysia Airlines via Kuala Lumpur to Heathrow, arriving the next morning.
