Discover Jordan's rich inheritance from bygone civilisations as you visit the must see icons of this beautiful country, Jerash, Mount Nebo, the Dead Sea and Wadi Rum. The highlight of any visit, however, must be the ‘Rose Red City’ of Petra, carved into the rock thousands of years ago. No matter how many pictures you have seen, nothing can prepare you for this amazing sight.
DAY 1 - LONDON to AMMAN
Depart London Heathrow on Royal Jordanian to Amman. On arrival at Queen Alia Airport, you will be met and transferred by an English speaking driver to your choice of hotel, Imperial Palace or (four star) or Marriott Amman (five star). Please call for more details on some of the hotels featured in the tour.
DAY 2 - AMMAN
This morning enjoy a city tour of Amman, visiting the Citadel, Amphitheater, Archaeological Museum, King Abdullah Mosque and the old and modern parts of the city. Continue to Jerash, without doubt the most wonderful and best-preserved classic Roman city in the region. With its imposing triumphal arches, temples, churches and theatres you will soon see why it is known as the ‘Pompeii of the East.’ Lunch will be served at Jerash Rest House. Late afternoon return to Amman.
DAY 3 - AMMAN
Today is at leisure for you to explore this bustling capital city on your own. If you wish there is also the opportunity to join a day tour to the Dead Sea (additional cost, please request details).
DAY 4 - AMMAN to PETRA
After breakfast depart for Petra via The King’s Highway. This route was for centuries the principal trade route but today the trucks and cars have abandon it for a newer dual-carriageway and left the wonderful views to the tourist vehicles. En route visit Madaba, famous for its amazing mosaics and St. George’s Church. See Mt. Nebo, believed to be the spot where Moses first saw the Holy Land, and the towering impregnable castle of Kerak. Lunch is served at Kerak Resthouse before continuing on to Petra and your chosen hotel for the next two nights, the Panorama Petra (four star) or Marriott Petra (five star).
DAY 5 - PETRA
You will without doubt marvel at the ‘Rose Red City’, carved over 2000 years ago and then lost to the world for 500 years when trading routes changed. It was kept a closely guarded secret by the local Bedouin until in 1812, Swiss born Jean Louis Burckhardt tricked his way into the site and opened it up for generations of awe-struck visitors. A local guide will join and assist you on this three hour exploration.
DAY 6 - PETRA to AQABA
Driving south you will follow in the footsteps of Lawrence of Arabia, visiting Wadi Rum where scenes from the famous film were shot. Wind sculpted hills rise up from the desert flats and stand like guards to the old camel caravan trading routes from the East. Even today the Bedouin people settle here for some of the year. Enjoy an hour’s jeep tour before continuing to Aqaba, Tala Bay. Check into the Marina Plaza, Tala Bay (four star) or Mövenpick Aqaba Hotel (five star) for a two night stay just minutes from the beaches of the Red Sea.
DAY 7 - AQABA

TRAVEL TIPS
The best time to visit is spring or autumn when the days are warm and the nights are cool. Evenings in the desert always get cold so a jumper or jacket is recommended. Due to the bumpy, rough nature of the terrain the trip into the Wadi Rum by four-wheel drive is not recommended for anyone with back problems.
NB
Included in the tour are all entrance fees to the sites mentioned; short horse ride in Petra (after you ride tipping is strongly recommended) and a four wheel drive Jeep tour inside Wadi Rum desert.
