Location In tropical jungle on the edge of the
Giritale Reservoir, about 41/2 hours by road from Colombo and surrounded
by national parks and ruins.
Facilities A selection of themed restaurants plus a choice
of bars and open-air coffee shop. There is a refreshing two-tier
waterfall swimming pool, Angsana Spa complex providing traditional
Ayurveda and aromatherapy spa treatments, and several indoor and
outdoor spa pavilions. Sports facilities include badminton, squash
courts, and sauna. An array of excursions, adventures and experiences
can be arranged locally, including private dining in unique locations
and wildlife exploration (see page 61 for a wonderful tour including
the Deer Park). Excursions done by the Mahut Club are available
by trained guides.
Accommodation 77 luxuriously furnished cottages,
scattered amidst the wildlife-packed forest with jungle views. All
superior cottages are located on the ground floor or first floor
and have airconditioning, ceiling fan, minibar and television. Ground
floor rooms have open- air bathroom with shower whereas first floor
rooms have an indoor bathroom with shower
and shared balcony. Some rooms are duplex and not suitable for the
elderly as bedrooms are accessed by ladders upstairs.
