Just a 2 hour drive from Kuala Lumpur is the picturesque
Portuguese colonial port of Malacca. The influence of the
Portuguese, Dutch and British traders and military have left a
distinct legacy visible through the varying architectural forms.
Day 1 KL/Malacca: Depart from your KL hotel and enjoy a
relaxing, scenic journey south to the delightful port of Malacca.
Perhaps take a stroll around Dutch Square the historic centre,
or alternatively hail a trishaw and hop aboard for a thoroughly
entertaining tour.
Day 2 Malacca: Day at leisure. We recommend you visit Cheng
Hoon Teng Temple, the largest Chinese temple in Malaysia,
the imposing Dutch Stadhuys dating back to around 1650, the
Bell Tower and Christ's Church. Other sights include the ruins of
St Paul's Church on St Paul's Hill for fine views over Malacca
while at the foot of the hill is the renowned Porta de Santiago.
Day 3 Malacca/KL: Before the return journey north to KL, you may
wish to head for Jonkers Street which is famous throughout the
Orient for its antique shops, ideal for browsing and buying. |
