Welcome Hotel is located in the province of Pinar del Rio about 133km (82 miles) southwest of Havana. The hotel is a few miles from the entrance to La Guira National Park. This is an old traditional building situated on the edge of town, with a good restaurant & swimming pool. This is the main tourist draw. It is very popular amongst Cubans as well.
Among the Cuban figures who visited Hotel Islazul Mirador were Cirilo Villaverde, author of one of the most outstanding novels in national literature - "Cecilia Valdes", and Carlos Manuel de Cespedes, who was elected president of the Republic in Arms during the 10-year war for independence that began in 1868.
