Day 1 Thu
Depart Heathrow by Varig Airlines to Rio de Janeiro via Sao Paulo,
arriving on Friday. Transfer to your hotel.
Day 2 Fri to Day 4 Sun In order to savour the
heady atmosphere of Rio, a half day orientation tour is included
to see the world famous landmark, the Sugar Loaf Mountain, with
panoramic views over Ipanema and Copacabana beaches and the distant
islands beyond. You will also go up by cog railway to the huge
statue of Christ the Redeemer.
Day 5 Mon Fly to the south west of Brazil to
the magnificent waterfalls of Iguaçu. Transfer to hotel
for two nights.
Day 6 Tue Full day at leisure to discover these
spectacular water falls which border Argentina, Brazil and Paraguay.
The word ‘Iguaçu’ means ‘Great Waters’
in Guarani and it truly is one of the world’s largest natural
wonders. A total of 275 falls cascade over a precipice almost
two miles wide giving rise to clouds of rainbow spray from the
waters below.
Day 7 Wed Fly to Buenos Aires. Transfer to hotel
for three nights.
Day 8 Thu to Day 9 Fri Enjoy a variety of sightseeing
in Buenos Aires, the ‘Paris of South America’, including
a half-day city tour to visit the beautiful gardens of Palermo
Park, the old quarters of the artistic district of San Telmo with
its colonial charm and cobbled streets and the Recoleta cemetery
where the city’s wealthiest families are buried. Don’t
miss where the embalmed body of Eva Peron (Evita) rests! We have
also arranged a full-day tour to take you out into the Pampas,
home of the gauchos and you will have the opportunity to enjoy
an optional Tango show.
Day 10 Sat Varig flight to Heathrow via Sao Paulo
arriving Sunday or extend your stay in the cosmopolitan city of
Buenos Aires.
