| In
the heart of bustling Vientiane stands a remarkable hotel that serves
as a testament to the long lost era of classical elegance, gracious
service and colonial charm.
LOCATION: This is the centrally located Settha
Palace, built in the early part of the last century and painstakingly
restored to its former imperial glory.
FACILITIES: Once more owned by the same passionate
family that ran the hotel in its heyday before the change of regime
to Communism in 1975, no stone has been left unturned and no expense
spared in the quest to bring this Vientiane landmark hotel back
to life. As a result the attention to period detail throughout,
from the glass chandeliers of the lobby to the classically furnished
rooms is all very self evident. When thoughts turn to rest and relaxation,
nestled within the large landscaped tropical gardens lies an inviting
lagoon style pool, framed by shading frangipani trees and served
by a terrace pool bar. The Belle Epoque restaurant is a delightful
place to enjoy dinner, with the option to dine al fresco being highly
recommended. Later, retire to the Colonial Décor Bar for
an aperitif or nightcap before retiring for the evening.
ACCOMMODATION: As you would expect in a landmark colonial
hotel, rooms and suites have high ceilings and are furnished in
a classical French style, with wooden floors and rosewood four poster
beds. Each room has airconditioning, television, telephone, minibar
and bath or shower.
MEALS: Breakfast included.
TRANSFER TIME: Approximately 20 minutes from Vientiane
airport. |
