why not treat yourself to a visit to the Peking Opera or a Peking
Duck Dinner.
DAY 5
Transfer to Beijing’s railway station where you embark on
a remarkable 700 mile, two day journey across China to the Tibetan
capital, Lhasa. Only recently completed this is the world’s
highest railway journey, reaching over 16,000 feet above sea level,
high tech engineering has been used to stabilise the tracks over
the permafrost and oxygen is pumped into the carriages to ease the
effect of the altitude as you ascend.
DAY 7
On arrival in Lhasa, transfer to the Lhasa hotel for four nights.
Dominated by the incredible Potala Palace, the city offers an enticing
insight into traditional Tibetan culture. Known as ‘the roof
of the world’ Tibet enjoys some spectacular natural scenery,
which you can enjoy on our Karola Pass and Yamdrok Lake Tour.
DAY 11
Fly Air China to Chengdu, and transfer to the Tibet hotel for two
nights. It is the giant panda that draws most visitors to the city
as almost eighty percent of the world’s remaining giant panda
population live in the mountains of Sichuan province. You can view
and learn about these beautiful animals on our prebookable City
Tour which visits the Breeding and Research Centre as well as some
of the city’s other notable sights.

find fascinating exhibits on the costumes and artefacts of the region’s
ethnic minorities.

of colours.
