This tour reveals the best of that legacy, including the supreme
Islamic architecture of Isfahan and Shiraz, the ancient Achaemanid
capital of Pasargadae and the splendid base reliefs of the Palace
of Persepolis.
Day 1 To
Tehran
Overnight flight from London to Tehran with British Airways. Transfer
to the Laleh Hotel for 2 nights (including immediate occupancy).
Day 2 Tehran
Morning tour of the Iranian capital, including the Carpet Museum
and the fabulous Crown Jewels of the Shahs of Iran. Afternoon
at leisure.
Day 3 To
Shiraz
Fly to Shiraz. Afternoon tour including the Nasir ol-Molk Mosque,
with its fine Qajar period tile work, the bazaar and the Shah
Cheragh shrine. Stay at the Homa Hotel for 2 nights.
Day 4 Persepolis
& Nagash-e-Rostam
Full day visit to Persepolis, Darius the Great’s summer
capital. Continue to Nagsh-e-Rostam, the site of royal tombs and
Sassanian rock reliefs.
Day 5 To
Isfahan
Transfer to Isfahan, via Pasargadae, capital of Cyrus the Great.
Stay 3 nights at the Abbassi Hotel, a beautifully converted 17th
century caravanserai.
Day 6 Isfahan
Full day tour of the city’s monuments, including the Friday
Mosque with its 476 domes, the Sheikh Lotfollah Mosque where the
tile work is amongst the world’s best, and the Chehel Sotoun
and Ali Qapu Palaces. Conclude at the Safavid Bridges.
Day 7 Isfahan
Morning visit to Vank Armenian Cathedral in New Julfa, the shaking
minarets and Isfahan’s bazaar. Afternoon at leisure.
Day 8 To
Tehran
Drive to Tehran stopping at Kashan to visit the Fin gardens and
Shahzadeh shrine. Overnight at the Laleh Hotel.
Day 9 To
London
Fly to London with British Airways.
