| The luxurious Blue Train enjoys a long standing heritage in the delivery of excellent service
and luxurious surrounds. An increasingly popular means of travelling from Pretoria to Cape
Town it is ideal for the discerning traveller and for those celebrating a special occasion.
Two lounges, the main lounge and the Club lounge provide comfortable surrounds for the
time spent on board though some are quite happy relaxing in their luxurious cabins, which,
during the day convert from bedrooms to elegant living quarters. The Club lounge, has a
more masculine ambience and is expected to find favour with those seeking a peaceful
place for after dinner cognacs, coffees or cigars. This area is the only section of the train
designated for smokers. In the main lounge, the venue for afternoon tea, is a giant screen
that covers the journey via a locomotive mounted camera. Both lounges have large picture
windows and are airconditioned. In keeping with the elegant evening ambience evening
wear is required for dinner and gentlemen are requested to wear a jacket and tie. During
the day dress is smart casual.
There are just four suite style cabins per coach. Each is beautifully furnished offering
discerning guests the best that modern technology and superior craftsmanship can
provide. Each Blue Train suite has a fully appointed en suite, featuring either a bath or a
shower. All suites are equipped with telephone, television monitor and individually
controlled airconditioning. A video channel allows guests to access short documentaries
about the area through which the train is travelling. Deluxe suites have a choice of twin
beds with a shower or a double beds suite with a three quarter size bath. Luxury suites
also have a choice of bed configuration but benefit a full size bath with hand shower.
Luxury suites are also equipped with CD and video players.
