The
beautiful beaches of Guardalavaca are the perfect
place to relax. The three main beaches – Esmerelda,
Pesquero and Guardalavaca itself – offer a good
range of accommodation, long stretches of white sand
and great opportunities to chill out. |

| WHAT
TO DO |
Water
sports are popular here, and most hotels offer entertainment,
but otherwise things are very low key – perfect
to get away from it all. Inland from Guardalavaca, the
mountains and towns of Eastern Cuba are worth visiting,
and the local state capital, Holguin, is an interesting,
every-day Cuban town, a great place to get a slice of
unhurried Cuban life. |
| WHERE
TO STAY |
Playa
Guardalavaca is the main resort area, with a small shopping
centre and a handful of hotels. Playa Esmerelda, about
10 minutes away, is home to a few hotels offering good
standards and little else, while Playa Pesquero is the
newest area to be developed, with well-known hotel chains
and a long stretch of beach.
Most of the hotels in and around Guardalavaca offer
an All Inclusive holiday, where all your meals and drinks
are included, with many offering snacks, activities
and entertainment too! Exact details vary from hotel
to hotel, so check with us first. |
| HOLIDAY
IDEAS |
Fly
direct to Holguin and spend a week or two relaxing on
the beaches of Guardalavaca, or combine the beaches
with a few nights in Havana. With this option, start
on the beach and finish in Havana, with flights from
Gatwick. Alternatively, combine Guardalavaca with other
areas of Cuba, notably Santiago plus Havana. |
| GETTING
THERE |
There
are a number of flight options for getting to Guardalavaca.
Various charter airlines fly to Holguin, Guardalavaca's
local airport (approx 45 minute transfer time), from
around the UK, with most flight options being from
Gatwick and Manchester. 7 or 14 night holidays are
available. Alternatively, fly from Gatwick to Holguin
every Saturday and Wednesday with Cubana for a holiday
that combines Guardalavaca with other areas of Cuba,
notably Havana and Santiago, for a fabulous Twin Centre
or Multi Centre holiday. |
