UK
Passport holders visiting Cuba require a Tourist Card for entry. These
will be sent to you with your tickets, and there is normally a charge
for these. The Tourist Card is a simple piece of paper that is perforated
in to two. One half will be retained on arrival and the Immigration Authorities
will keep the other half when you depart the Country. Before checking
in on departure, you’ll need to fill in basic details on the form.
Ensure that everything is completed correctly, or you may be denied boarding.
Complete your Cards as soon as you receive them to avoid last-minute problems.
Full UK
passports are required, and should be valid for at least 6 months from the return date to the UK, and generally you should have at least one double blank page available per country visited.
Passport
and visa requirements do change from time to time, and visitors are advised
to contact the Embassy prior to travel:

Some insurance companies may not extend cover for situations arising where
Department of Health advice is not taken, irrespective of entry requirements.
The situation regarding vaccinations may change, and visitors are strongly
advised to speak with their local GP prior to travel. Information from

Money

Unit
of currency: Peso
Cuba in effect has two currencies: the Peso for Cuban Nationals, and the
Convertible Peso for visitors. Visitors will rarely be able to pay for
goods and services using the local Peso.
In November 2004, trading in the US dollar was subject to hefty charges
and stopped from general use. Visitors are recommended to take Sterling
or Euros to convert in to Pesos on arrival. This will still incur a commission
charge, but a lower one than the Dollar incurs.
If you are taking a credit card or travellers cheques, you will not be
able to use one that has been issued by an American bank. Although some
are obvious, such as American Express, some cards that bear the name of
UK financial institutions may have an American parent company that you
may not be aware of. Check with your card issuer before travelling. |
