An undiscovered gem on the Mediterranean Coast, Libya is a fascinating destination and one that's little visited from the UK. The highlight for most visitors are the magnificent Roman ruins of Leptis Magna, regarded as the best Roman site in the Mediterranean, with its magnificent architecture on a grand scale. However, there's a great deal more of interest too, including the desert city of Ghadames, the primary city of Tripoli and numerous Roman remains, berber castles and desert landscapes.

Independent travel in Libya is restricted, so the best way to visit this country is on a guided tour. Please do bear in mind that Libya does suffer from extreme temperatures, both in the summar and winter, especially in the desert areas.

GETTING THERE

British Airways fly daily between Heathrow and Tripoli. Regional connections from various parts of the UK are available on request.
